چکیده

Abstract In this paper, we address the problem of fluid motion estimation in image sequences. For such motions, standard optical flow methods, based on intensity conservation and spatial coherence of motion field, are not suitable. This is due to the highly deformable nature of fluid medium. For all applications where fluid motions are to be recovered from images, it is then important to have specific techniques. We investigate such dedicated models which include an original observation constraint, based on the continuity equation from fluid mechanics, and a new div-curl-type smoothness term. Our method is validated on synthetic and real meteorological images.

A framework for estimating potential fluid flow from digital imagery.

Given image data of a fluid flow, the flow field, , governing the evolution of the system can be estimated using a variational approach to optical flow. Assuming that the flow field governing the advection is the symplectic gradient of a stream function or the gradient of a potential function-both falling under the category of a potential flow-it is natural to re-frame the optical flow pro...

Optical Stokes flow estimation: an imaging-based control approach

We present an approach to particle image velocimetry based on optical flow estimation subject to physical constraints. Admissible flow fields are restricted to vector fields satifying the Stokes equation. The latter equation includes control variables that allow to control the optical flow so as to fit to the apparent velocities of particles in a given image pair. We show that when the real unk...

Computation Optical Flow Using Pipeline Architecture

Accurate estimation of motion from time-varying imagery has been a popular problem in vision studies, This information can be used in segmentation, 3D motion and shape recovery, target tracking, and other problems in scene analysis and interpretation. We have presented a dynamic image model for estimating image motion from image sequences, and have shown how the solution can be obtained from a ...

Optical Plume Velocimetry: A New Flow Measurement Technique for Use in Seafloor Hydrothermal Systems

Evidence suggests that fluid flow rates in mid-ocean ridge hydrothermal systems may be strongly influenced by mechanical forces such as ocean tidal loading. However, long time-series measurements of flow have not been collected in these environments. We develop a non-invasive method, called optical plume velocimetry (OPV), suitable for obtaining fluid flow rates through black smoker vents based...

Presentation of a Non-invasive Method of Estimating Arterial Stiffness by Modeling Blood Flow and Arterial Wall Based on the Determination of Elastic Module of Arterial Wall

Introduction: Arterial stiffness is an important predictor of cardiovascular risk. Several indices have been  introduced to estimate the arterial stiffness based on the changes in the brachial blood pressure. Since the  substitution  of  the  blood  pressure  changes  in  the  central  arteries  such  as  carotid  with  the  blood  pressure  changes in the brachial results in error in the blood...
